12 WAYS TO RAISE SMART KIDS
Every parent want to be proud of their kids. They want to be assured that their kids can stand out in a crowd because of the intelligence they possess which is far more than that of their peers. This article will show you how to raise smart kids.
Every good parent wants to know how to raise a child into a very successful adult, but the truth is that it is easier said than done. I found out raising my own son. I will try to provide some guideline that will guide you on how to raise an intelligent child and see him be the adult you hoped for.
IMPROVE ON THEIR SOCIAL SKILLS
No man is an island and your children should know early in life that they would have to meet people other than their family members. You will have to show them the importance of relating with other people irrespective of their race and at all times express their feeling verbally.
You will teach them how they can resolve issues with friends, the beauty in sharing, how to listen without interrupting and how not to judge without listening from all parties.
One very important point to teach them is how to help others in need, whether at home or anywhere else.
LETS THEM MAKE THEIR OWN MISTAKES
The earlier one learns from his mistake in life, the better he becomes. Do not over protect them by always being there to solve challenges for them.
Teach them that failure is just temporal and that it is always good to have a second chance. Teach them never to give up on what they believe.
Julie Lythcoth-Haims said that “allowing kids to make mistakes and develop resilience and resourcefulness is critical in setting them for success.”

MAKE SURE THEY GET THE BASIC EDUCATION
Kofi Anan once said, “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premises of progress, in every society, in every family.”
Getting the basic level of education is very vital to the future of any child. It is not very possible for one to employ staff for every little thing. A time will definitely come for one to prove their worth. Without education, one can easily make a fool of himself.
It is very important you read to your children and teach them mathematics early. This has the potential of impacting greatly on their achievement later in life. Therefore, parents should teach their kids the importance of early education and encourage them to take charge of their work independently.
TEACH THEM TIME MANAGEMENT
“The common man is not concerned about the passage of time, the man of talent in driven by it,” a quote by Shoppenhauer. This is an important point to note if you are wondering how to raise your child to be a genius.
Teach your children that the key is not in spending time, but in investing it. let them know that one has 24 hours in a day and how he invest all of it will determine who he becomes later.
Never allow them to waste their time on television, especially on programs that will not add any value to them.
A 2017 study by Greg West shows that too much television is linked to child obesity, behavioural issues and irregular sleep patterns.
Let them begin to learn how to create their own content instead of consuming other people’s content. Let them begin to learn computer programming, mobile and web applications, 3-D modeling and designs or even digital music productions. These area will forever be green and the earlier they show interest, the better for them.
BE THE FIGURE THEY LOOK UP TO
It is so important that children know what is expected of them. Data collected from a UCLA team found that the expectations parents have for their kids has a huge effect on their achievement. The study shows that by the time they were four years old, the high performing kids were those whose parents expected them to attain and obtain a college degree.
ASSIGN DOMESTIC CHORES
A University of Minnesota analysis of data found that one of the best predictors of success in young adult is whether they were assigned to do domestic chores when they were 3 or 4. It creates a sense of responsibility in them.
The study proves that there’s a great relationship between children who did domestic chores and successful young adults.
REWARD ONLY THE RIGHT ACHIEVEMENTS
A Stanford University found out that praising a kid’s intelligence or other innate qualities can actually lead to under performance. Offer praises when kids overcome challenges and problems. Praise when they showcase tenacity, grit, persistence and determination.
MAINTAIN THE CONNECTION AT THE HOME FRONT
Studies have shown that parents that are addicted to their mobile phones always have children who felt they were unimportant in their lives.
In this age of 24 hours internet one can easily be distracted by online activities while the home front burned. It is very important to limit our mobile usage at home and know when to focus on the family.
AIM FOR A PEACEFUL AND LOVING HOME
Love is a very beautiful feature. It radiates peace and happiness wherever it is. Everything that is good can easily grow in an environment where there is love.
Strive for that and your kids will be better adults.

Let them begin to learn from home even before entering the four walls of any school.
